Hong Kong: The Goldfish Market

Hong Kong Goldfish Market

AC has two aquariums full of fish and in Oslo, aquarium stuff is expensive, so she wanted to do some shopping at the Goldfish Market in Hong Kong. One of the things on her list was a spawning cone, which is a terracotta device used to make the fish spawn stick. I had no idea what she was talking about and neither did the different vendors, she asked.

As a last attempt she decided to find an image on Google, which she could show the shop keepers, but it didn’t turn out very well. The people she showed the photo looked either embarrassed or slightly offended and made it very clear that “NO, we don’t sell stuff like that!”. I think I know why, but I can’t write it here, because then my blog might get banned in certain countries. Google “spawning cone” and you’ll probably understand. That thing really looks like something else!
