Fümé is a casual eatery in Pier 7 (the round building out in the water) next to Marina Mall. Though, casual doesn’t mean without a sense of style and the décor is hip and a very urban/industrial way with plenty of nice details. Considering the top notch Marina location, you would expect Fümé to be a pricey place, but it’s not. As a matter of fact, I think it’s one of the most affordable licensed restaurants in this part of the Marina.
Fümé is decent, simple food, so don’t expect anything überfancy or extravagant. Menu highlights include mac and cheese as well as some of the meat dishes prepared in the Mibrasa (a closed barbecue oven, which gives the meat a very characteristic, intense flavor). Whatever you do, don’t skip dessert. I’ve tried the apple crumble and the lemon meringue pie and both were delicious, inexpensive and of a generous size. The food is served whenever it’s finished, so what’s supposed to be your main might show up before your starter.
Fümé has a no-reservation policy, so you just walk right in and wait your turn. The restaurant is really big, so getting a table immediately, shouldn’t be a problem. Poul and I went there on a Friday evening, which is usually the busiest evening of the week for restaurants in Dubai, and we got a table right away.
• I don’t think the restaurant has a dress code, but as most people proceed to clubs and bars after dinner, they dress accordingly.
• You pay 10AED for bread and butter, but it’s worth it, as the bread is really delicious.
• Most mains are 60-90AED
• Fümé is licensed to serve alcohol, and cocktails and beer aren’t very expensive, so Fümé is not a bad place to start a night out.
